It’s useful to know how much money your business has made, but sometimes you need to know how much money you’ll be making in the future.
The forecast view allows you to visualize the revenue projection for your company, so you know what your revenue will look like moving forward.

<h2 style="text-align: justify">What is the forecast view?</h2>
<div class="support-note success primary">Note: If a deal is marked as WON, that deal’s won date will be used instead of the expected close date for calculating value in the forecast view. </div>
The forecast view projects your revenue by using the expected close date of the deal. The expected close date is when you expect a deal to be marked as WON or LOST.

If you don’t want to measure your projected revenue using the expected close date, you can <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/custom-fields" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">create your own custom date field</a>, (i.e. “delivery date,”) and the forecast view can use that information to project your revenue.

To access the forecast view, go to the Deals tab and click on the third View button.

There, you’ll find a kanban view of your deals, separated into date-based columns. Each column header shows a summary of your projected revenue, based (by default) on the expected close date of your deals.

The summary contains the total value for all open deals, the total value for all won deals and a projection of the combined revenue of your won and open deals, should you win them all.

<h2 style="text-align: justify">Customizing your forecast view</h2>
To customize your columns, click the gear icon and select your preferred options.

You can also drag-and-drop deals from one column to another, allowing you to update the deal’s expected close date.

<h2 style="text-align: justify">The green status bar</h2>
The green status bar indicates what stage a deal currently resides in, so the further along the green status bar is, the further along the deal is in the pipeline. Deals that are furthest along the pipeline are prioritized at the top of your forecast view, which allows you to see the deals that are closest to being marked as WON.

The deal forecast view: revenue projection

Deals in your Forecast View are ordered based on their current pipeline stage, and last update time.

You may also choose between having them sorted by their deal creation date or their expected close date. To choose these options, or choosing to show Won or Open deals first can be made by clicking the gear icon found in the top right-hand corner.

How are deals ordered in the Forecast View?

While you may choose between having deals in the forecast view sorted by their deal won time or their expected close date, you may also create a date-type custom field in Pipedrive and use that date to sort those deals. Once created, that custom field will be available as an option when clicking the gear icon in the Forecast View. How can I sort deals in the forecast view by a different timeframe?

When in the forecast view of your Pipedrive account, you can use a filter to view the incoming revenue brought in by the other users in your Pipedrive account. To filter for those activities, click on the filter dropdown and select the name of the user. How can I see projected revenue for my colleagues' deals in the forecast view?

The green bar displayed at the bottom of each deal in the forecast view demonstrates that deal's progress through the stage of its current pipeline in your company Pipedrive account.

What is the green bar on the bottom of a deal in the forecast view?

If you believe you should be able to view items owned by one of the other users in your Pipedrive account – but cannot see that information – we suggest checking the displayed filter in the forecast view to verify that it should be showing that user's owned items. 
However, be aware that users may have their visibility restricted in the Pipedrive account based on the <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/hc/en/articles/207341695-Users-Permissions-Controlling-visibility" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">vi</a><a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/visibility-groups" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sibility groups</a> in Pipedrive, dictated by the admin user of the account. If you have any questions regarding those visibility permissions, we suggest inquiring with the admin user of your Pipedrive account.
