Product Duration

Jenny Takahara, June 20, 2024
Note: Starting March 11th, 2024, the Product Duration feature is no longer available for new customers. For customers currently using this feature, it will be removed in phases leading up to June 3rd, 2024. After this date, Product Duration will no longer be available. As an alternative, you can use the recurring products feature.

The Product Duration feature enables you to use an additional field when attaching products to deals.

You can choose a product duration when linking a product to a deal.

This is useful in the context of both time and amount-related products, such as hoteling or warehouse services.

For example, if the product is a hotel room, Product Duration could be used to indicate the number of nights a potential client might occupy that room. So the price is per night and the duration is the length of the stay, defining the deal value (Price x Duration = Value.)

Export product duration values

Note: This action is only available to users with deals and global admin permissions enabled.

You can export your product catalog and the products linked to deals by going to Tools and apps > Export data.

Select Products and one of the export options:

  • Entire product catalog
  • Only products added to deals

Then, click on either CSV or Excel. Your export file will appear in the Generated exports list. To download the file, click on the cloud icon in the Available until column.

Note: The Product Duration feature will be discontinued and is only available to some users. If you don’t have this feature in your Pipedrive account, you can use recurring products as an alternative.

Product duration deprecation FAQ

To ensure your data remains accurate, we recommend the following steps based on the duration units you’ve used:

  • If you’ve used daily or hourly product duration units, you can still add your data to the product notes field or migrate it to other fields until [date]. The easiest way to do this is to adjust the product quantity field – either manually or using our API – to reflect your expected earnings. For example, if you’re offering one hotel room for a duration of six nights, you can adjust the product quantity field from one to six.
  • If you’ve used weekly, monthly or yearly product duration units, you’ll be able to merge your product duration data into the new recurring products or product quantity fields. We recommend adding duration value or unit details to your product notes before [date]. You can email us within 90 days of this date to access a record of your old data.”
