Your deals and leads, contacts, projects and products already come with the default fields needed to manage your data, but you can add fields specific to your company’s needs as <strong>custom fields. </strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">With custom fields, you can document specific information needed to customize your data and organize and <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/filtering" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">filter</a> it in Pipedrive based on these fields. </p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Go to <strong>Settings &gt; Company &gt; <a href="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/fields" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Data fields</a></strong>, and click “<strong>Add custom field</strong>.”<strong> </strong>The field can be added under <strong>L</strong><strong>ead/deal</strong>, <strong>Person</strong>, <strong>Organization</strong>, <strong>Product </strong>or <strong>Project</strong>. <br></p>

<p>You can change the custom field name, field properties and important fields for your custom field at any time. The custom field type cannot be changed once it has been created.</p>

<p>You can change the order in which your custom fields are displayed.</p>

<p>Deleting your custom field will delete the field and its existing data from your Pipedrive account.</p>

<h2>Custom field grouping<a name="custom-field-grouping"></a></h2>
<p>You can organize your custom fields into groups, making it easier to find the field you need. </p>
<p>To add a new custom field group, click <strong>”+ Field group“ </strong>while creating or editing a custom field. </p>

<h2>Custom field statistics<a name="custom-field-statistics"></a></h2>
<p style="text-align: justify"><strong>Admin</strong> users may not always know where a field is used or what data might get lost if they delete fields.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">To measure the success and usefulness of your fields and avoid accidental deletions when editing, users can see their creation and update dates, along with stats showing where it is filled in or used in filters.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">To view the field stats, admin users must click on the field to open the edit view. Then, at the bottom-left corner, click <strong>“View field stats”</strong>.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">During any sales process, the data that you collect on your clients is extremely important. Pipedrive's <strong>required fields </strong>allow you to select which of your <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/hc/en/articles/207228075-Custom-Fields" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>data fields</strong></a> should be mandatory while adding or editing a deal, contact person, or organization. This means that users in your account <strong>will not</strong> be able to add or edit new items or move deals until the required fields have been filled in.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">To use the required fields feature, go to <strong>Settings &gt; <a href="/settings/fields?type=DEAL">Data fields</a></strong>. When adding a custom field, you will see the option to make the field <strong>required</strong>. </p>
<p>By clicking to expand the options when editing a deal field, you can select which pipelines and stages your field will be required for. You also have the option to make your fields required in <strong>all pipelines, all stages</strong>.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Once you toggle the feature on for a field, check the boxes to customize which pipeline or stage should have the configuration for your important fields.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">When important fields have been enabled in your Pipedrive account, you may notice a flag in the <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/deal-detail-view" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">deal detail view</a> informing you that important fields are missing data.</p>

What types of custom fields are there?

<p style="text-align: justify">To add a <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/hc/en/articles/207228075" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">custom</a> or default field to your add deal, contact, product or project modal, go to <strong>Company settings &gt; <a href="/settings/fields">Data fields</a></strong> and select the tab of the prompt you want to add to add the field to.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">You can then click on the data field (custom or default) you want to add to your add item prompt to update its “<b>Places where shown</b>” properties. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify">For example, if you want to add a person custom field to the <strong>add <strong>lead/deal</strong></strong>, <strong>add lead</strong> or <strong>add person</strong> modal, you can go to the <strong>“P</strong><strong>erson“ </strong>tab and click on the custom field you want to include.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Default fields are already built into your Pipedrive account when you create it. They are typically used for relevant customer information like names, emails or phone numbers – when a relevant field does not exist, a custom field can be created. </p>

<p style="text-align: justify">System fields are also already built into your Pipedrive account. These fields are part of the Pipedrive interface. The information they contain is not filled inside the detail view or <strong>Add New</strong> dialog, as it is filled manually or automatically through a different feature or menu (for example, the date when an item was created or the number of emails you exchanged with a contact).<span style="color: rgb(192,80,77)"><br></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">You can find the <strong>system fields</strong> section right below the <strong>default fields</strong> section.</p>

<div class="support-note success primary"><strong>Note: </strong><strong>Pipeline-specific custom</strong><strong> fields</strong> are one of the many useful features of Pipedrive’s Professional and higher <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/hc/en/articles/115005938909-What-features-do-the-Pipedrive-plans-have-" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">plans</a>. Setting up and editing the pipeline-specific fields can only be done by <strong>global</strong> <strong>admin users</strong>.</div>
<p style="text-align: justify">This feature allows you to add custom fields to <strong>deals</strong> that are in specific pipelines.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">You can hide the field in the <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/deal-detail-view" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">deal detail view</a> while the deal is in certain pipelines. If the field already has some data, that data won’t be deleted, only hidden. It will also remain visible in the list view.</p>
<p>To configure them, click on the <strong>“</strong><strong>Edit field”</strong> option and <strong>“</strong><strong>All pipelines</strong><strong>“</strong>. </p>

Calculations are not available for leads, even if the field has a formula. <br></div>
<p style="text-align: justify">Formula fields are an effective way to cut down time spent making calculations manually. Here’s how you can use them with Pipedrive. </p>

<h2 style="text-align: justify">Where to find formula fields<a name="where-to-find-formula-fields"></a></h2>
<div class="support-note success primary"><strong>Note: </strong>Company accounts are limited to ten formula fields each.</div>
<p style="text-align: justify">Go to <strong>Settings &gt; <a href="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/fields" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Data fields</a> &gt; Add custom field </strong>to create a new field. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Formulas can be applied to two field types: numerical and monetary. Toggle on <strong>“Apply formula to deals”</strong> to add a formula when creating new fields.</p>

<h2>Re-calculation<a name="re-calculation"></a></h2>
<p style="text-align: justify">Formula values are automatically calculated and updated when:</p><ul><li>Formulas are created/edited</li><li>Deals are created</li><li>Deal fields included in the formula are edited</li><li>You recalculate a formula (in the deal detail or list view, or when bulk editing deals)</li></ul>
<p style="text-align: justify">However, they can be re-calculated by hovering over a value, either in a list view column or detail view sidebar, and clicking the refresh button. </p>

<p style="text-align: justify">With <strong>read-only fields</strong>, you can make custom field data visible to users without them being able to edit it. </p>

<div class="support-note success primary"><strong>Note: </strong>Editing permissions can’t be applied to <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/custom-fields-formula-fields" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">formula fields</a> since solutions are calculated automatically. </div>

<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify">The goal of this feature is to reduce user error and avoid disrupting the existing integrations, automations, webforms and imports on the account. </p>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify">For that reason, the following <strong>can't</strong> be achieved with read-only fields: </p>

<div class="support-note success primary"><strong>Note:</strong> This action is only available to users with the “Edit custom fields setup” <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/permission-sets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">permission</a> enabled.<br></div>
<p style="text-align: justify">Go to <strong>Settings &gt; Company &gt; </strong><strong><a href="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/fields" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Data fields</a></strong>. Navigate to the field entity tab (lead/deal, person, organization, product or project)<strong> </strong>and click <strong>“Organize fields”</strong>.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Click <strong>“</strong><strong>+ Field group” </strong>and choose a name for your new field group.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">You can import values using formula fields, and have the calculations performed during the import. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify">In this example, the <strong>number of clients</strong> field has a formula of <strong>deal value + 10</strong>.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: justify">Setting up the default source channel list<a name="setting-up-the-default-source-channel-list"></a></h2>
<p style="text-align: justify">Admin users can edit the <code>source_channel</code> field in <strong>Company</strong> <strong>Settings &gt; <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/data-fields-in-pipedrive" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Data fields</a></strong>. Admins can add or remove source channels to reflect the channels and tools in use.</p>

<h3>Editable Fields<a name="editable-fields"></a></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify"><code>source_channel</code> and <code>source_channel_id</code> can be edited by all users, either individually or in <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/bulk-editing-and-filtering" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">bulk</a>. The <code>source_channel</code> is selected from predefined values in the <code>source_channel</code> dropdown menu.</p>
