If your card issuing bank is in the *EU, **EEA, or ***CTC, you may be required to go through an additional step of authentication when you enter your card details or make modifications to your account and subscriptions with us.
This is due to the PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), a new European regulatory requirement designed to make online payments more secure, which came into effect on December 31, 2020.
The SCA will require an additional security step before you are able to complete your online transaction that can appear as two or more of the following:

Knowledge – something the payer knows, including a password, pin, passphrase, etc. 
</li>
<li>
Possession – something the payer possesses, including their mobile device, 
</li>
<li>
Inherence – something the payer is, including fingerprint, facial recognition, voice patterns, etc.

This EMV 3D Secure (3DS) authentication process is handled by the financial institution that has issued your card. If you are having issues authenticating your payment, we recommend reaching out to your financial institution directly for further assistance.

The PSD2 is an *EU law aimed at providing better card-payment protection, helping reduce online card fraud and making online purchases more secure for all consumers.
The last and final part of the PSD2 is the SCA, which is the Strong Customer Authentication. This began its rollout on September 19, 2019, and was enforced from December 31, 2020.
What is SCA? 
SCA stands for Strong Customer Authentication and is a form of two-factor authentication (2FA) designed to make online payments more secure in the *EU and *EEA.

In Pipedrive, when you reach the "confirm" step while <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/how-can-i-update-my-billing-details-in-pipedrive" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">updating</a> or <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/how-can-i-start-paying-for-pipedrive" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">entering</a> your card payment details for your Pipedrive subscription, you are likely to be prompted to complete a step of verification and authentication as requested by the financial institution that has issued your card, this is what the authentication pop up in Pipedrive will look like.

If you don't plan on replacing a deactivated user, we recommend removing that user's seat so your subscription is updated with the correct seat count. 
When deactivating a user, you will see a summary of all items owned by that user, as well as a reminder to <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/viewing-and-reassigning-the-data-of-a-deactivated-user" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reassign their data</a> if you would like to.
There is also a checkbox under Update billing, which will remove that user's seat from your subscription immediately if selected.

Next to the cost of your current plan, you have the option to Manage seats.

To start paying for Pipedrive, go to <a href="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/subscription" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Billing</a> &gt; Billing details and click the pencil icon.

To pay for Pipedrive using PayPal, you will first require a PayPal account. If you don't have a PayPal account, go to <a href="https://www.paypal.com/us/home" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PayPal</a> to sign up for free. If you already have a PayPal account, follow the directions below:
Under "Payment method", select "PayPal" and click "Check out with PayPal". You will then be directed to Pipedrive's PayPal checkout in a new tab. Log in to your PayPal account and select "Agree and continue".

The change will take effect at the beginning of the next billing cycle. The new invoice will also be issued at the beginning of the next billing cycle when the next renewal invoice is issued.
Further subscription changes made before the end of the current billing cycle may override the scheduled billing frequency change.

When you are in a trial, you can add your billing details at any time to start paying for your subscription as soon as the trial has ended. If you receive an error when adding your billing details, read through the following points to help you to troubleshoot any issues.
 Location validation 
Location validation is one potential cause of the error that you are receiving. We check location validation for any taxable region to determine the correct rate at which to apply the tax.

Location validation looks to find a match between the billing country provided in your billing address and the second piece of location evidence being:

If your billing details do not match these criteria, you will not be able to add your details to Pipedrive.
 Declined transactions
Declined transactions are another potential cause of errors you may receive when adding your billing details. In this case, we advise you to contact your card issuing bank to find out why the transaction has been declined and to see if they can prevent the transaction from being blocked.

If you are unable to add your VAT ID to your account billing details, the first thing you should do is check if your VAT ID is valid.

To check if your VAT ID is valid you should follow these steps:

<li>Select the member state (country) in the first field</li>
<li>Provide the remaining digits of the VAT number in the VAT number field</li>
<li>Select "Verify"</li>
</ul>
You will then see if your VAT ID is valid or invalid.

When changing between subscription plans, the time the change takes effect will depend on whether you are upgrading or downgrading plans.

If you are upgrading plans, the new plan will apply immediately and you will receive a credit note and an invoice. The credit note will be for the balance remaining in the current period of the original plan.
You will then receive an invoice charging for the new plan for the remainder of the billing cycle. The balance of the credit note will be applied fully to the invoice for your new plan.
Example:
A user on the Advanced plan billed monthly switches to the Professional plan halfway through the billing cycle.

$10,000/month limit exceeded 
As per Brazil’s Federal law, you will have a limit of $10,000 USD a month for transfers to international companies on your local credit card. If your payment causes you to surpass this amount, you will receive an error message.

 Open invoice 
If you are already a paying Pipedrive customer and have an open invoice, you will not be able to switch to paying with an alternative payment method (e.g., international credit card or PayPal) until that invoice is paid.

Who can access the billing information on my Pipedrive account?

When you invite a user to join your Pipedrive account and give them <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/global-user-management#deals-app" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">deals app access</a>, that new user will occupy a seat in your Pipedrive account.

In this case, nothing in the account's billing information will change.</li></ul>
<ul><li>If you do not have an open seat in your account, adding a user will increase the billed seat count in your subscription. This means you will be billed immediately after the seat has been added to your account. The charge you see will be a prorated charge reflecting the time remaining in your current subscription cycle.</li></ul>
For example, if your monthly Advanced plan billing cycle started on March 5th and you add an extra seat on March 20th, you will be charged on March 20th the prorated amount of the time left of the current cycle for your extra seat. On April 5th, you will be billed the total amount for the users on the monthly Advanced plan.

What happens to my billing when I add a user in Pipedrive?

When you <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/how-can-i-deactivate-or-reactivate-a-user" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">deactivate a user</a>, you will see a pop-up with the information assigned to that user, as well as the option to remove that unused seat.

If you remove this unused seat, the changes will take effect at the beginning of your next billing cycle. If you fill the seats with new users before this date, the seats won't be removed.</li>

If you do not remove this unused seat, the seat will still exist in your account and billing remains unchanged.</li>

If you want to remove seats from your account after deactivating users in the past, go to your billing section and click on "Manage seats".

Then, choose the desired number of seats. The changes for seat downgrade will take effect at the beginning of your next billing cycle. If you fill the seats with new users before this date, the seats won't be removed from your billing.

What happens to my billing when I deactivate a user in Pipedrive?

If your issuing bank is in the EEA, you will be required to go through another layer of authentication when you enter your billing details. This is due to a new European regulatory requirement that went into effect on September 14, 2019, designed to make online payments more secure. 
When you reach the Confirm step while <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/how-can-i-update-my-billing-details-in-pipedrive" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">updating</a> or <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/how-can-i-start-paying-for-pipedrive" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">entering</a> your billing information for your Pipedrive account, you may be prompted to complete a step of verification as requested by the financial institution that has issued your card. 
This 3D Secure (3DS) authentication process is handled by the financial institution that has issued your card. If you are having issues authenticating your payment, we recommend reaching out to your financial institution directly for further assistance.

Why am I required to complete the "Pipedrive 3D Secure Payment Authentication" to confirm my purchase?

At Pipedrive, we provide you with a two-week trial period upon signing up for a new account. This is because we believe in our platform and think after trying it you will be convinced. However, if you want to cancel your trial account, here is how you can do so.

When you start your trial account, payment information is not required. However, you are required to enter a method for payment before you can <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/how-can-i-start-paying-for-pipedrive" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">start a subscription</a>. 
If you have not entered your billing details yet and want to cancel your trial, no further action is required from you. You will automatically lose access once the two-week trial period has expired.

In a trial account, even if you have already entered your payment information, you can still cancel before your subscription starts. To cancel your trial, start by navigating to Settings &gt; <a href="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/subscription" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Billing</a><a>.</a>
From there, you can scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select “Cancel my subscriptions”:

After clicking “Cancel” you will be reminded of the data currently in your account and asked to give a reason for cancellation.
Once you have provided your reason for leaving, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire about your experience with Pipedrive. We encourage you to fill this out, as your feedback is the primary way we make improvements to our platform.
Once you have completed that step, your trial will be canceled and you will retain access to the account until the 14-day trial period ends.

If the payment authentication fails, you should contact the customer service number for your financial institution, which is typically found on the back of your card or on their website. Tell the customer service representative the message that you received.

If your verification method of choice depends on the usage of your mobile phone, then you will be unable to execute the Strong Customer Authentication at that moment and the payment procedure will fail.

Recurring payments do not need to be verified every time, no matter if the amount is the same or if it varies. Only the first payment – when setting up the regular payments – will require SCA to verify your identity and confirm the payments.
You should also have an agreement between you and the retailer that specifies the reason for the payment and the payment amount (or an estimate when the precise amount is not known).

It is up to the Issuer bank to decide whether to take advantage of the exemptions that PSD2 allows, e.g., offering cardholders to build an “allow-list” of trusted retailers where you do not always have to authenticate yourself.
They might also decide to add individual rules around what retailers or products and services qualify for an “allow-list“ or if only payments below a certain threshold do not require additional authentication at allow-list retailers.

<h2>My phone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, but does have a front camera. In lieu of a fingerprint scanner, authentication of payments can be adjusted to other methods, such as screen lock, PIN code and face recognition or in-app authentication.
This depends on the settings of your wallet and bank.

<h2>Is SCA now the only reason why my card payment was declined?<a name="is-sca-now-the-only-reason-why-my-card-payment-was-declined"></a></h2>
It depends. When a debit/credit card is used for making an online payment, there are many parties involved in the payment process: Issuing bank, Switches, Processing Platform, Acquiring Bank and Merchant platform, card networks and the Cardholders themselves. 
There could be several different reasons why a payment won’t go through.

From October 1st, 2021, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) e-mandate directive took effect for recurring payments using India Bank Cards. 
This means that customers who are using cards issued by a bank in India and are paying over ₹15,000 (INR) for their subscription renewal will need to log in to Pipedrive and manually re-enter the billing details to get the transactions successfully processed.
To do this, go to your <a href="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/subscription" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">billing tab</a> and edit your billing details by clicking on the pencil icon. Why do I need to re-submit my payment details for subscription renewals? (India)

When will this suspension end?
We will monitor the situation and review our decision internally as and when significant developments occur.

Will this be a temporary measure?
We aim to reinstate servicing our customers in Russia and Belarus as soon as peace and territorial integrity of Ukraine have been restored.

What will I see during account suspension?

What will happen to my data?

You will be able to access and export your data until your next renewal date. Any data left in your account after your next renewal date will be kept securely until we reinstate your service.

My payment has already failed. What do I do now?
Any Russian or Belarusian customers whose payment has already failed now have a 30-day grace period. You will be able to export your data during these 30-days, after which your account will be terminated, and your data will not be saved.

Do I have time to download all my data? (E.g., contact information for prospects)
You can export your Pipedrive data before your next renewal date. You will no longer have access to your account and any data kept within your account from that date.

Does that mean that I cannot log in to my Pipedrive account tomorrow?
Pipedrive has suspended all its services in Russia and Belarus. After your next renewal date, you will no longer have access to Pipedrive.
