Pipedrive helps you keep track of your deal progress by providing you with information about your deals based on what pipeline stage they occupy in your pipeline view.
The pipeline stages are defined by an admin user in the company Pipedrive account. You can learn more about customizing your stages in <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/how-can-i-customize-my-pipeline-stages" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">this article</a>.

The pipeline view displays the deals owned by specific users. To filter for the deals owned by a specific user and understand their progress, click on the filter button – "Everyone" in the above screenshot – and select a user.

Pipeline view

The Rotting feature gives awareness of deals that have been idle for too long. Once enabled and configured, your pipeline will visually notify you of any deals that have remained untouched for longer than the defined rotting period.

<ul>
<li>Go to the pipeline view and hit the “pencil” icon. </li></ul>

Define the number of inactive days after which a deal in this stage is considered rotten.

You’ll know a deal has gone rotten by the red color on the deal tile in your pipeline view.

If your deal is rotten, you can restore it by: 
<ul><li>Scheduling a new activity for the deal</li><li>Editing any details of the deal, such as custom fields, expected close date, value, etc. </li></ul>

<h2 style="text-align: justify"><a name="will-future-activities-make-deals-go-rotten"></a>Will future activities make deals go rotten?</h2>
The Rotting feature does not look at the next activity date, so any deal that has an activity scheduled far into the future can still go rotten.
In this situation, rethink what you consider for stages and activities in your company’s Pipedrive account: 
<ul><li>If you set an extended rotting time (ex. 20 days) to accommodate activities far into the future, it can impact short-term goals and productivity</li><li>Likewise, if you set shorter rotting times, it can be difficult to manage and sort deals where the activities are due in the future</li></ul>
One helpful strategy can be to create multiple pipelines or stages based on how soon you want certain activities completed or deals closed.

Pipedrive is designed to help you close deals through activity-based pipeline functions, but it’s also flexible, so you can work however’s best for you. 
That’s why there’s a default sorting method for deals, and the option to select your preferred sorting method.

<h2>Default deal sorting</h2>
The pipeline view helps you keep track of your <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/activities" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">activities</a> by organizing your deals based on the priority of that deal’s next-scheduled activity. 
So deals that require immediate attention are moved to the top of your pipeline columns.

Deals in the pipeline view with default sorting are displayed in the following order: 
<ul>
<li>Deals with a red icon have an overdue activity. This activity should be marked as “Done” (if already completed) so you can schedule another activity and continue working to close that deal. </li>
<li>Deals with a green icon have an activity scheduled for later today, so you can see which deals require your attention soon. Make sure to complete the necessary task and mark it as done when completed.</li>
<li>Deals with a yellow icon don’t have an activity scheduled. We suggest scheduling an activity so you can track it and work toward closing that deal.</li>
<li>Deals with a grey icon have an activity scheduled in the future. They’re lower in your pipeline view since you have more time to finish them.</li></ul>
Multiple deals sharing a certain activity status (e.g., two deals with no planned activities) are sorted in descending order of their creation time, with the newest deals showing first.

If you’re looking for options outside of the default sorting method, you can click the “Sort by“ dropdown on the right side of your pipeline view:

How are deals ordered in the pipeline view?

To view another pipeline in your Pipedrive account, click the dropdown menu and select the pipeline you want you view.

How can I see deals in a different pipeline?

Note: You must be a deal admin or a regular user with the correct permission to delete deals in Pipedrive. Account settings admins can provide permission for other users to delete deals by going to Settings &gt; Manage users &gt; <a href="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/permissions" title="https://app.pipedrive.com/settings/permissions">Permission sets</a> and enabling the “Delete deals” option.</div>
To delete a deal in the pipeline view, click and hold the deal you wish to delete and drag it to the “Delete” button at the bottom of the screen.

How can I delete a deal in the pipeline view?

If you believe you should be able to view items owned by one of the other users in your Pipedrive account but cannot see that information, we suggest checking the displayed filter in the pipeline view to verify that it should be showing that user's owned items. However, be aware that users may have their visibility restricted in the Pipedrive account based on the <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/hc/en/articles/207341695-Users-Permissions-Controlling-visibility" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">vi</a><a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/hc/en/articles/360000309498-Visibility-Groups" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sibility groups</a> in Pipedrive, dictated by the admin user of the account. If you have any questions regarding those visibility permissions, we suggest inquiring with the admin user of your Pipedrive account.

Why can't I see my colleagues' deals in the pipeline view?

You can change the order of your deals in the pipeline view using the “Sort by” dropdown on the right side of your screen.

What makes Pipedrive different from other CRMs is the ability to help you track your <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/activities">activities</a> by organizing your deals based on the priority of those deal’s next-scheduled activity. 
Nonetheless, every business has different needs, so we allow an extra level of customization for your deals and pipeline.

A deal card is a visual representation of the ongoing opportunity you are pursuing with a person or organization, which is processed through the stages of your <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/pipeline-view" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">pipeline</a> until it is either won or lost.
By default, deal cards already contain the following information:
<ul><li>Deal title</li><li>The linked contact person and organization</li><li>Deal value</li><li><a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/deal-labels">Deal label</a></li><li>Deal owner</li></ul>

To customize the information shown on the deal cards click on the pipeline selection dropdown, then ”Customize deal cards”.

Here you’ll be able to select the default or custom fields you want to see displayed on every deal card.

You can add up to seven deal, person or organization fields. Click on the desired field to add or remove it from the deal card and save the changes.

We’ve seen that users close an average of 28% more deals with activity-based selling and that’s why, by default, deals that require immediate attention are moved to the top of your <a href="https://support.pipedrive.com/article/pipeline-view" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">pipeline</a> stages. 
If you need to change the order of your deals, you can sort them by the following criteria:
<ul><li>Activity-based (default)</li><li>Deal title</li><li>Deal value</li><li>Linked person name</li><li>Linked organization name</li><li>Expected close date</li><li>Deal creation time</li><li>Done activities count</li><li>Activities to do</li><li>Product count</li><li>Owner name</li></ul>
To change the deals’ order, click ”Sort by” below the pipeline and filter buttons.
