Analyzing your website's traffic is essential when learning about visitor behavior and finding the best potential customers to target during the early lead generation stages. Not all of your website visitors will turn into customers, so it's important for your sales team to know early on where to focus their time and energy. To help you navigate through your website traffic, you can use Pipedrive's Web Visitors feature.
The Web Visitors feature will allow you to track visitor activity on your website to track and identify the companies who are most engaged with your website, and as a result, most likely to turn into customers.
The Web Visitors feature will allow you to inject a website tracking script to your website to collect visitor information and present you with reports of not only which companies are visiting your website, but also the amount of activity each visitor has while interacting with your website, such as what pages each visitor is visiting and where they are coming from.
The companies are then sorted by quality and listed as sales leads in the Web Visitors inbox in your Pipedrive account. The visitor information is synced hourly, so your sales team can keep track of new leads and immediately reach out to potential customers to kick off the sales process.
To set up your Web Visitors tracker, go to Leads > Web Visitors, and then click on Set up Web Visitors. You will be prompted to set up your Web Visitors feature by embedding a tracker script into your website.
The process of installing your tracker script will be different depending on what you use to host your website. You can learn how to install the script into your website in this article.
To view and manage your Web Visitors leads, go to Leads > Web Visitors. Your Web Visitors inbox will show you the companies that have visited your website, when they visited, and whether they are linked to any organizations in your Pipedrive account.
The visitor information will be updated regularly, but you can click on the Refresh button in the top left corner of the page to manually pull in the newest data from your website. You can also customize your view by changing what to sort by or filter for the leads based on certain criteria.
Sorting your Web Visitors
Order your leads by quality or last visit time. The quality of the visitor is an overview of how engaged a visitor was on your website and determined by the number of pageviews in the visit session.
Filtering your Web Visitors by date
You can find the visitors that have last visited your website in the time frame you select.
Filtering your Web Visitors by visitor type
There are also a few pre-determined filters that you can select to further narrow your results.

The bar to the left of your visitor information will reflect the lead quality, which is determined by the number of page views in a visitor session.
A full green bar means a higher quality lead, and a low red bar means a lower quality lead.
If you click on the visitor entry, a side panel will appear, containing the details on the company and the visit.
- Company name and visits summary
The number of times this company has visited your website, the last visit date, page views, and bounces (visits that are 1 page)
- "Linked to visitor" section
Any leads, deals, or organizations that the visitor is linked to in Pipedrive. This is useful in tracking interest levels through visits even after deals and contacts have already been created.
- Company information
Company information including description, address, website, industry, and any social media links
Details on each visit of the company, the source of each visit, number of pages visited, and the length of each visit
You can expand each visit to see detailed information on each page that was visited.
When you decide that a Web visitor has the potential to be a sale, you can convert it to a lead, deal, or organization. To do this, you can select the visitor in your Web Visitors inbox and click on +Lead, + Deal, or + Organization under the Linked to visitor section.
You will be notified if Pipedrive detects a potential duplicate in your organization list.
Once items are linked to the visitor, you can click through directly to the corresponding item's Detail page. Information on the visits made by that company will be added to the linked deals and organizations as a note.
In the organization detail page, you will see the newly created custom fields Linked web visitor and Latest web visit, that is automatically populated with Web Visitors information. These custom fields also make it easy for you to filter your organizations in the list view.
What if the same company visits again?
Any new visits made from the Web Visitors will automatically appear in the Web visitor's page as well as in the Detail views of any linked deals and organizations. The Latest web visit custom field will also be updated automatically with the latest visiting information so you can stay up to date with the latest activity of your ongoing deals.
