Who can create and manage automations in Pipedrive?
What you can do with automations in Pipedrive depends on your permission set and whether you own the automation.
This article explains who can create, view, edit, duplicate, delete and transfer automations, and how permissions and ownership affect access. To learn how to find and filter automations, see automations list view.
Create automations
By default, only users with global admin permissions can create automations. Global regular users can create them if the “Add automations and configure automated email senders“ permission is enabled for their permission set.
Give global regular users permission to create automations
To enable the permission:
- Open the account menu and go to Manage users > Permission sets
- Expand global features permission sets
- Select the permission set you want to update
- Click “Edit permission set“
- Enable “Add automations and configure automated email senders“
- Save your changes

Once enabled, users in that permission set can create automations and configure automated email senders. See email senders in automations for more information about sender options and reply-to addresses.
Manage automations
What you can do with an existing automation depends on whether you’re its owner, a global admin or a selected user. Global admins can view and manage automations across the account, even when they don’t own them.
Understand automation ownership
The owner of an automation is the user who created it or the global admin it was transferred to. Regular users can own automations they create, but ownership can only be transferred to a global admin.
Automation owners and global admins can:
- View, edit, duplicate and delete the automation
- Transfer ownership to a global admin
- Manage selected users who can trigger the automation
- View execution history for all users who trigger the automation
Understand selected users
An automation can be triggered by all users or only selected users.
When “Triggered by selected users“ is chosen, only the users added to the automation can trigger it.

Both global admins and global regular users can be selected users. Being a selected user doesn’t change your existing permissions or make you an automation owner.
If a global regular user is a selected user, they can:
- See the automation in their automations list
- Activate or deactivate the automation for themselves
- See their own executions in the history tab
- Duplicate the automation, if they have the “Add automations and configure automated email senders“ permission
They can’t edit, delete, or transfer the automation. They also can’t add or remove other selected users.
See manage who can trigger automations to learn how to add or remove selected users.
View execution history
The owner and any global admin can see execution history for all users who trigger the automation.
A selected user who doesn’t own it can only see their own executions.
